How to Refine a Google Search

Refine Google Search Results

Google is great tool to use. Sometimes, though, when you are looking for something really specific, it can give you too many results. Google can literally give you hundreds of thousands of search results in less than one second. If you don't find what you are looking for in the first five pages, chances are that your google search is too wide.  As you can see in the image below, searching for toys gives you a total of 3.1 BILLION results. That is quite a lot of results

If you don't find what you are looking for within the first pages, here is a quick trick on how to refine your results:

Let's say you're looking for toys but  know you are definitely not looking for dolls or stuffed animals . Simply add the '-' next to the word that you don't want. For example you would write
"Toys -dolls -stuffed":

As you can see now, the results have been narrowed down millions! The more specific you are, the narrower your search results will be. This is good to keep in mind you never seem to find that you are looking for.
